    Land Stewardship Subcommittee Tasks:

      • Consider other stakeholders/ individuals that should be part of subcommittee and recruit members of the community.
      • Identify areas of concern within watershed
      • Identify Best Management Practices that will help improve or maintain water quality/quantity. For example:
      1. Habitat restoration
      2. Plant native grasses
      3. Buffer Strips
      4. Identify Ag areas and ensure using right measures to filter runoff
      5. Provide pet waste cleanup stations near parks (provide bags)
      6. Public access to river. Mostly private land along water, maybe another park or trail
      7. Install more trashcans/recycle bins near creek and swimming holes
      • Feasibility of implementation of Best Management Practices
      • Work with Outreach and Education subcommittee

      The Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program Now Accepting Applications 

      The Texas Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Program (TFRLCP) at the Texas General Land Office is accepting applications for agricultural conservation easement projects, contingent upon the receipt of funds from the Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP), for projects up to $1 million. 

      To view the request for applications, please visit the program website at:  www.texasfarmandranch.org and link to the "How to Apply" section.  Included in the Request for Applications NO. 00868-SG is an application form, guidance document and instructions on how to complete the application package.
       
      The application must come from a qualified land trust in partnership with a willing landowner.  
      Deadline for Submission:  November 6, 2009@ 3:00 p.m. Central Time
