Decision Support System Subcommittee Tasks:

Updated 09/20/2009

Goal 1 – Input on DSS content
Meeting 1.1
Introduction to DSS, discuss objectives for DSS, end users
Meeting 2.1
Watershed conceptual modeling, discuss inputs/outputs needed for decision support
Meeting 3.1
Generate a list of potential management interventions (BMPs) and their affected variables that could be incorporated into the DSS

Goal 2 – Input on DSS analytical capabilities
Meeting 2.1
Identify objectives/goals for watershed management; identify criteria to assess if objectives are achieved
Meeting 2.2
Refine numerical criteria; prioritize/ rank criteria

Goal 3 – Scenario Development
A series of meetings to develop scenarios for the future of the watershed based on the inputs/outputs and BMPs identified above.  These scenarios will be used to demonstrate the capabilities of the DSS.

Goal 4 – Input on DSS interface
1 to 2 meetings to refine the DSS interface and ensure ease of use, clarity, and to structure output so as to be most useful to end-users

Goal 5 – DSS Training
1 to 2 hands-on workshops to guide users through generating scenarios, running models, and evaluating results

  • Objectives for how the DSS will be utilized
  • Identify end-users
  • Additional data that stakeholders would like to include in the watershed planning process and the DSS
  • Inputs to scenarios: identify potential management or BMP alternatives to include
  • Inputs to multi-criteria analysis module of DSS: goals for watershed management, criteria to evaluate alternative scenarios relative to goals
  • Input on DSS capabilities and user interface
  • Determine how the model output should be structured so as to be most useful to end-users
