Hays County is in the process of developing its first County Strategic Plan and your input is very important.   Please save one of the dates below and come join them in a public discussion.

Residents can assist by filling out a survey available on the Hays County Web site at www.co.hays.tx.us or directly at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=AcDfT3x7o5RtcaugcYAmwQ_3d_3d.                  
The public is invited to discuss their concerns and ideas from 6:30 to 9 p.m.:

TWSThe Texas Watershed Steward program is a free, one-day educational workshop designed to help watershed residents imporve and protect their water resources by getting involved in local watershed protection and mamagement activities.

The workshop will provide an overview of water quality and watershed management in Texas. It will primarialy focus on water quality issues in the Cypress Creek watershed as well as efforts by the community, the River Systems Institute, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to help improve our water resources and the health of the surrounding watershed. Diurnal Bacteria Monitoring Event
June 26th and 27th
Volunteers and community members, come join us, the Texas Stream Team and Cypress Creek Project, in Wimberley at the Blue Hole, for a special water chemistry and E. coli data gathering event.  We will be gathering diurnal samples (24 hours of continuous measurements) to asses the aquatic life and contact recreation use conditions for Cypress Creek. Public Meeting
June 3, 2009
The Cypress Creek Project through the River Systems Institute and Texas Stream Team will be hosting a meeting for the Cypress Creek Watershed Committee on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at the Wimberley Community Center in the Blanco Room.

The goal of the Cypress Creek Project is to ensure that the long term integrity and sustainability of the Creek and watershed are preserved and that water quality standards are maintained for present and future generations.

The River Systems Institute, through strong Cypress Creek community partnerships, is facilitating this project. The project is paid for by grants from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Environmental Protection Agency Region VI. River Systems Institute, Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District, and numerous other project partners are providing substantial funds to achieve project success.

A public meeting concerning the local freshwater resources. In this public forum, we discussed watershed function, water quality data trends, and groundwater conditions specific to the Cypress Creek watershed. View meeting minutes. See the presentations.
